The whole Incas civilization was based on the textiles, and many things from the clothing to roofs of the houses and bridges were made of different fibers. Spanish Conquistadors didn’t notice the value of fibers and annihilated practically all of the breeding stock.

These animals are domesticated South American camelids. The Inca culture developed a systematic breeding program for them, selecting the animals according to their colors and characteristics. They were worshipped and considered to be the gifts of gods. The wild representatives of this family are vicuna and guanaco.
