Inca Alpaca
Inca alpaca population was saved from total slaugher thanks to conservation practices of banning their hunting and exportation.
Among the Andean people this fiber was currency and only the Royalty wore it. In efforts to conquer the natives Spaniards slaughtered about 90% of their domesticated and carefully selected camelids. Only small remnants of the large population were saved.
