Alpaca Shearing
An alpaca shearing usually won't include the babies, the wool used for hunting clothes etc. should be from a mature animal.
The purebred animals produce up to 4 kg of fine fiber each year. The fiber of Suris is valued higher than that of Huacaya, because of its length (20-30 cm), fineness (12-20 micron), and gloss. The only disadvantage of Suris is limited variety of colors.

This is probably the most difficult aspect of owning such animals. If you are a beginner, it is better to hire professionals not to loose precious fiber. You will need also patience and firmness, because these animals are very intelligent and will device many ways to escape.
