Illegal hunting and trade continues to land its crippling blows to their population, and if this tendency persists, we may lose these animals forever. In order to prevent total extinction of these animals, wildlife protection specialists have to raise animals in zoos and sanctuaries. However, these wild creatures cannot do without wild life.

These animals are usually found in Mainland of Southeastern Asia and in central and southern India. They choose grassy or swampy areas and forests as their habitat. Their numbers are low in the wild due to poaching and habitat destruction. These felines can adapt to various environments, but this ability of theirs cannot keep up with the onslaught of humans. Human interference affects natural breeding process and causes wild animals to inbreed. This in turn leads to severe genetic disorders and unpredictable behavior.
