Black Baer

Cubs remain with their mother for 16-20 months, though they are weaned at 6-8 months. Females reproduce every second year and when they are ready to mate they force the yearlings to leave them and start living independently. The population of these animals has a slow rate of growth.

Females of this species reach maturity at the age of 3-4 years and males are ready to mate at 5-6 years. Mating occurs in May or June and the cubs are born in January.
