The black bear classification can be found on most conservation sites along with photos. While these creatures are capable of standing and walking on their hind legs, the usual posture is on all fours. Ursus americanus belongs to kingdom Animalia, phylum Chordata, class Mammalia, order Carnivora, family Ursidae, and subfamily Ursinae. It occurs throughout much of North America from northern canada south into Mexico and from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
