The Alaskan black bear is often seen on farms and in forests; conservation laws allow regulated hunting.
In summer they eat berries, insects, dig roots; this subspecies is more efficient hunter than its southern counterparts and can kill deer, moose, and other animals. They also like to fish and feed on salmon and other large fish in summer time.

This animal is the smallest of 3 species inhabiting that state (150-180 cm long and weigh 90-270 kg); it may often be blond, white and bluish-gray. It can be found in forested areas and tundra.
