These animals are described as expert climbers. At birth they are more mature than domestic cats and they grow faster and in captivity they live more than ten years. However, it takes them twice as long to reach sexual maturity. Females are sexually mature at 21 months.

As the animals live in the arid places they will drink if water is available but they usually get all the moisture they require from their prey.
