Wyoming Elk

Wyoming elk hunting must be done within the boundaries of laws governing conservation. Females usually give birth to one calf. The female drops the newborn to the ground and eats placenta. The calves have light spots on the back and weigh not more than 15-16 kg. A newborn calf is able to stand and walk after several minutes of birth. In the wild males usually live solitary or in small groups consisting only of males. Females and their offspring live in herds of 20-30 individuals.
