This species is found across a wide geographic area, ranging form Egypt, the Middle East, Parts of Southern Asia through to western China. It is found mostly in open grasslands, and marshy ground close to river. They also inhabit a greater range of habitats, which includes tropical deciduous and evergreen forest.
