The Leopard
The leopard cannot be raised on the farms, as the conservation status of the species is endangered.
Worldwide there are 600-700 captive animals of this species. The American Zoo and Aquarium Association's Species Survival Plan program initiated in 1981 includes a plan for many big cats. Big cats are being successfully bred in captivity.

Zoos play an important role in research and teaching the public about the importance of saving many species of endangered animals. Cubs of endangered big cats born in one zoo can be sent to other zoos around the world to help diversify the captive population and avoid genetic disorders caused by limited genetic pool.
