Any lactating female in a pride is likely to suckle any cub that belongs to the pride. Females give birth to a litter of 1-6 cubs. The gestation period makes 110 days. The newborn cubs are helpless, weighing approximately 2-4 pounds. Only half of the newborn cubs survive through their first year of life.
