Native to Asia, the Bactrian camel is an odd looking animal with two humps. With its third eyelid and nose that serve to filter out sand, large padded feet that "snowshoe" sand and its ability to go from days to weeks without water while withstanding significant body temperature changes, uniquely adapts Bactrians to desert living. Camels are kept for meat, milk, hair (clothing,) and camel racing (a source of money and entertainment.)
