Habitat destruction has made Binturongs rare in their native tropical and sub-tropical forests of Southeast Asia, Malaysia and nearby islands. Binturongs feed on moving prey and fruit at night and sleep in the trees by day. They have keen noses, sight, and hearing. Their prehensile tail tip aids slow deliberate movement among trees, but capable of speed. Their scent glands mark their territory as they move. Fun and playful, they may be aggressive if cornered.
