There are two basic types of elephants: African and Asian. African Elephants (Loxodonta Africana) are larger in size, and they have straight backs. They have four toes on the front feet and three on the rear feet, and both sexes have tusks. Asian elephants (Elephas Maximus) have arched backs and one more toe on each foot correspondingly. Females do not have well-defined tusks, but additional incisor teeth, called "tushes."
