A mongoose family member, genets resemble cats with long graceful catlike body and head. Their coat colors vary slightly with patterns of spots, blotches, and stripes. Very long, dark ringed, bushy tails and fennec fox-like ears render genets peculiar looking. Cat-like stalkers, and nocturnal hunters with razor-sharp, retractable claws, genets eat moths, insects, birds, and rodents. By day, they sleep in hollow trees and crevices. They live in a sundry of habitats mainly in Africa.
