Jacob sheep have balanced, well differentiated horns, black/white faces and spotted bodies. Deemed descendants of Jacob's biblical flock, historically spotted or pied sheep appeared in Syria about 3,000 years ago and migrated to North America, Sicily, Spain and England. However, not all spotted or multi-horned sheep are Jacob Sheep. This old world sheep resisted commercialized breeding for improvements or out crossings retaining the primitive slender body and lean meat, and medium-fine fleece without outer coats.
