Mountain Lions weigh 70-170 pounds, stand 25-30 inches, and carry long cylindrical tails. Their coat color appears light, tawny brown to gray/black depending upon light conditions; throat and chest are whitish. These solitary cats, except when breeding, are secretive and remote. Habitats vary within the Western Hemisphere. A carnivore, its prey ranges from deer and wild boar to rodents. Females breed every 2-3 years bearing 2-3 cubs. Hunting them using trained dogs is a popular sport.
