In forests and grassy plains of South and Central America, the Ocelot hunts rabbits, small rodents, lizards and birds for food. The dense, thorny, low brush: hackberry, lotebush, and blackbrush provide coverage for this tawny-yellow fur cat that presents dark spots and raccoon-like ringed tail patterns. Twice the length of housecats, ocelots spend their daytime in the trees and on the ground hunting food at night with speed and agility, excellent vision and keen hearing.
