Macaque (ape family) members, Rhesus Monkeys, inhabit Southeastern Asia, Northern India and a species in Western Africa. This pinkish faced, red-buttock monkey possesses long straight, brown-gray hair and mischievous traits. Showing no fear for humans, it potentially destroys farmed areas. These animals weigh 12-24 pounds and measure 2 feet long with 8-inch tails. Preferring forest habitats including semi-desert, dry, deciduous, bamboo, and tropical woodlands, Rhesus eat seeds, roots, buds, fruit, invertebrates, bark and grains.
