Brazilian, Costa Rican, Columbian and Ecuadorian dense rainforests host a little spotted cat, a wildcat weighing 4-7 lbs and measuring 15-20 inches long. It is the smallest subspecies of the genus Leopardus. Although an excellent climber and jumper found among trees, it popularly hunts ground prey, such as rodents, reptiles and insects and even birds. It has tawny/buff fur patterned with dark brown/black stretched spots with under parts lighter and less densely marked. Deforestation and hunting endanger these cats.
