A great amount of cubs dies during the first year of their life because of different reasons: starvation, different predators and native hunters. For 20 months these animals’ cubs drink milk and stay with their mothers for two years.

Females of these animals are not as large as males. Females weigh 330 to 550 pounds. They are able to breed at the age of five years. They usually give birth to one or more often to two cubs. A newborn cub weighs not more than a pound. Polar bear cubs hunting is banned, but a baby can fall a victim of a male.
