These are mostly solitary animals and they like to hunt alone; for them it is easier and more successful to hunt alone as they are used to hiding before they attack their prey. The animal waits for a chance and attacks by biting the victim on the throat. They are very patient hunters, and can lie in wait for more than an hour. They usually kill young, diseased or old animals that cannot run fast. Females are more adept at hunting, because they have to take care of their young and bring food to them.
