These animals prefer to hunt at night and in winter they also may hunt at daytime. Their eyesight is perfect, they have binocular and color vision and they see better than humans in the dark. They prefer to observe their prey for a long time and then to attack it biting in the neck. They rarely attack humans and prefer not to meet them. The Amur feline is undeservedly called a ‘man-killer,’ although he is as unlikely to pick on a human as other predators. These animals never attack without provocation; females can be particularly dangerous in defending their young. Males are usually aggressive during mating seasons.

These cats usually hunt alone and they need at least 20 pounds of meat a day and they also may eat up to 100 pounds at a time if there was a successful hunt. They mainly hunt on deer, wild pig and can also eat fish. They hunt alone, and only come together when food is scarce. A tigress usually takes her cubs on hunting trips and thus teaches her young to kill. The cubs can kill a small animal at the age of around 6 months, and can hunt independently by age of 1.5-2 years.
