The coloring of the fur is reddish in the summer months, the fur is thick on the belly and the body is covered with the black stripes and the tail is white and black. These animals mate during winter, so that cubs are born by the time it gets warm. Gestation lasts 103 days, and females give birth to 3-4 cubs. Cubs are born blind and helpless, and they feed on the mother’s milk until the age of 8 weeks. After that, they are introduced to meat and can make first steps in hunting.

Today, they are highly endangered and may be gone in less than 20 years. There are only 200 species left in the wild, and about 250 animals contained in zoos.
