The color of the cat is orange with stripes, but this coloring is paler that the other’s species’. The stripes are brown and they are widely spaced. The chest and the belly of the animal are white and there is a thick ruff of white fur around the neck of the cat. These cats hunt by stalking their prey and pouncing onto its back. They cannot run for a long time and have to wait under cover for a long time until prey gets close enough. They usually jump at it from behind or from the side, pin it to the ground and bite hard on its neck until it dies from suffocation and bleeding.

These are big cats that are very elegant, quick and good hunters. Males are usually 3.3 meters long and they weigh 300 kilograms, females are smaller and they weigh about 100-167 kg. The subdivision of the animals called Amur is the biggest one. They can be found in mixed coniferous and deciduous forests and taiga, and are well accustomed to cold and harsh weather. A great part of their population is concentrated along the Sikhote-Alin mountain range in Russia. They also dwell in Korea and China.
