Rufous Hare Wallaby

Rufous hare wallaby is extinct on the mainland and conservation efforts are slow, however, photos show them still on several islands. This species reproduces very slowly; every female rears one young per year. It is born naked, blind and helpless and climbs into the pouch, where it spends up to 6 first months. These species was once common through most of the arid and semi-arid areas of Australia, but now it exists only on several islands and is extinct from the mainland. The factors for its decline are clearing of its habitat, predation by dogs and competition with rabbits. Rufous hare wallaby is extinct on the mainland and conservation efforts are slow, however, photos show them still on several islands.
